Test message

From your friendly GM: Okay gents, it looks like we're having some technical issues, namely guys not getting posts sent to their email addresses, so I'm posting this to see if I can trouble shoot the problem. If you get it, please shoot me an email so I can start narrowing down who's having problems, and workaround for them. Until then, if you've got questions, hit me up.

On Hiatus

Well gents, unfortunately do to my military commitments, I'm going to have to place the game on hiatus, as I'm unable to keep up. My work days are averaging 18-20 hours a day, and things don't look as though they're going to slow down anytime soon. I've enjoyed talking with you guys, reading your posts, and seeing you interact with each other. It's been fun, and I want to give the game another shot, when I return from Iraq. Until then, you can still shoot me emails, but I may take me a while to get back to you. Stay Safe.

Fire In the Sky

It's been several days since you heard reports of a meteorite shower near the outskirts of the city. As far as the authorities are concerned, it was nothing more than a routine astrological event, and other than piquing the interest of local astronomers, it really didn't attach to much attention. But, something isn't quite sitting right with you, and you've decided to check out the area for yourselves.

The area around the where several of the meteorites "burned up" is a sparsely populated rural area near Jonesville. Jonesville is a small town with a population of around 5,000 people. The area's largest employers are a small electronics firm, and several large dairy farms. Most of the population works at the Genesis Electronics, or on one of the dairy farms. If anyone decides to stay in town, there are two hotels in town, and a small bed and breakfast. Things are pretty quiet in town, and a stranger asking questions will definitely be noticed by the Sheriff, or one of his seven deputies. While their not rude, they'll keep an eye on anyone who stands out from the norm.

You guys need to let me know how you plan to go about getting to the town, and what you plan to do once you get there. I'll talk to you all in a few weeks. Until then, have fun, and stay safe.

Down Time

While I'm out playing in the woods, for my favorite uncle, you guys should feel free to work out what you're doing, and how you want to go about doing it. I'll also be posting your updated character sheets, once I read your replies.

A Gathering of Warriors

Thunderbolt waited atop the pile of metal scrap at the Empire City – Westside Wreck’s Junkyard. This place was where it all started for him. Memories of that rainy night almost a year ago, flooded his thoughts. The night when he and his sister Sarah had been assaulted and abducted by men, unknown, who forced designer new drug upon them was still fresh in his mind. How he had broken free as the men held them in the back room of a shack that no longer existed to wait to see what effects their mutagen concoction would have upon them. The shack was destroyed in Shawn’s fury when he awoke after being thrown from the crane gantry he had dragged his sister to seeking escape from their captors which was subsequently struck by a lightning bolt that triggered his miraculous power. Shawn had lashed out without thought … those men would never harm anyone again. It was purely self-defense but their death’s still troubled his soul… he had killed them! Their bodies so badly burned they were merely piles of ash washed away by the rain, but not so easy to wash away the guilty memories.

It was appropriate to him that Thunderbolt before parting from his new companions… his newly formed team,
The RONIN. Here is where they would meet in secret their first meeting to officially organize themselves. The fight at the Rave Club had proved not only that they could work together but also that the criminals of the city were gathering to oppose them. Individually they each had little chance on their own.

But together... together these warriors… these RONIN could fight for a better city to take a stand against those who would hide from justice. Together they could make a difference. Slik Slanderer had mentioned he had a friend …Diesel who might be interested in helping out. It was a humble start… but it was a start.

Slik Slanderer, Diesel, Stalker, and Thunderbolt… Shawn pondered… could they do it? Could they be forged into a team of heroes? Could he bind them to his cause… Shawn was not sure… but he would give it his best effort…

Thunderbolt waited for the others to arrive … he sat on the hood of a wrecked Buick calmly out in the open waiting… and hoping…

Return of the Serpent Lord

GM Replies to the group

The ghost shape continues to form before you. Within seconds you can clearly make out the form of a what appears to first to be a humanoid female, with what looks like some sort of ceremonial headdress or mask obscuring her face. Soon her form begins to solidify before you.

Into the Mouth of Darkness

GM to the group at the mansion

Just to make sure everyone is clear on what's going on, here's a breakdown of exactly where everyone is at.

The Machinist, Power Chord, and Agent Woo, have just entered the broken second story window previously entered by Jack Frost and Skyhawk. To their immediate right is a long hallway, with several wood doors. To their left, at the opposite end of the hallway, are Jack, Skyhawk, and what appears to be the top of a stairwell. Jack and Skyhawk have been confronted by a group of serpent cultists dressed in dark brown robes. As the cultists approached, Skyhawk let loose with a power blast. Hopefully, that brings everyone up to speed on what's going on. If you've got any questions, let me know, and I'll do my best to clarify things. Good luck.

Rise of the Serpent God

GM Replies to the group at the estate.

As you go about your scouting mission, you are able to see the general layout of the estate, and the surrounding area. Skyhawk is able to receive clear images of the area, through his link with Archimedes. The grounds consist of a main building, a barn, and several small storage buildings, with a road running to the north. Other than a flicking light, coming from the downstairs windows, you see no signs of life on the grounds.

While it appears as though nothing is amiss, both Jack and Power Chord feel uneasy. The air feels old and stale, as though the life has been drained from it, and it makes your skin crawl.

Jack notices that while the area should be teeming with wildlife, it's strangely silent, as though the woodland animals have fled elsewhere. Power Chord feels an unnatural energy, that grows stronger with each passing moment.

ECPD Blue

ECPD Blue

With Nemesis in cuffs, a WECN news helicopter down in the middle of the street, several dead wise guys, several hundred thousand dollars in property damage, and possible gang war brewing ECPD is looking for some answers if they're going to be able to put a stop to the bloodhed, and two of Empire City's newest heroes, Slik Slander and Diesel, are in the hot seat.

There's a situation at ECU!

There's a situation at ECU!

When we last left our heroes, they were locked in battle with an servant of Set. Using a mystical dagger, and his own abilities, he'd unleashed a spell that hand animated our intrepid heroes shadows, and turned them into his puppets.

Enter the Stalker

Okay folks, as I'd already mentioned, a new player will be joining our merry little group, and instead of trying to squeeze him into the game, right off the bat, I'll be trying something a little different. I'll be running Stalker through a solo adventure, set a few weeks prior to the current storyline, before he meets up with the rest of the group. For you continuity nuts (and I fall into that category), it begins the day after Guardians head off into space.

The Gathering

THE GATHERING

With the group finally in agreement, the mysterious "men in black" escort your little band through the police lines, with little to no difficulty. As you make your way through the crowd of excited onlookers, you all will manage to catch a glimpse of WECN's Amber Green. As the group, passes by her location, you hear her tell her camera man, "Jesus, quick! Get me a shot of them leaving. I want to be the first one on the air with a group shot of these guys." Her camera man quickly pans his camera over the group, before one of the men in black steps in the way, stating, "Excuse me Ms. Green, but I'll have to ask you not to do that."

Amber Green – “Hey, you’re ruining my shot, and last I checked, there was still freedom of the press in this country!”

Man in Black 1, responding to Amber – Ms. Green, I’m sure these gentlemen, would appreciate a moment of privacy, as they’ve just been through a very rough morning, now if you’ll excuse us, we’ll take our leave.

At roughly the same time, a large unmarked white passenger van pulls up, and the doors swing open.

Man in Black 2, speaking to the group - “Det. Jones, let's roll, before these press vultures swing in for the kill."

You all are driven a short distance down the road, to a rather nondescript office building, a few blocks from the scene of the fire. The entrance doors are manned by several uniformed, and armed, security guards. Upon entering, you all are waved around the metal detectors, and X-ray machine, located at the entrance, and the entire group is ushered into one of the conference rooms, located on the building's first floor. The office appears to be nothing special. It contains a large oval shaped conference table, chairs, a large screen, a power point projector, and several small storage cabinets.

Man in Black 1- “If everyone will kindly take a seat, I’ll see about getting some refreshments. We’ve got water, coffee, and cold orange juice. If you need to use the rest rooms, they’re located out the door, and to the right.”

Upon entering the room, both Jack, and Power Chord, can instantaneously that this room is far more than meets the eye. The can feel a mystical power source emanating from the walls. While neither can put their finger on it, both since that some ancient magics are at work. Silver Star notices that once he enters the room, the low level comm signal, he maintains with his “sponsors”, becomes intermittent, and fuzzy. The Machinist will be reminded of the secure conference rooms the Agency maintains at Langley (CIA HQ), (a successful perception roll allows him to figure out it’s the same type of room, but with a few added touches he hasn’t seen before).

Once everyone’s seated, Man in Black 1 speaks – “Gentlemen, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Special Agent Banks, of the Bureau of Special Investigations. My partner (Man in Black 2), is Special Agent Harris, and you’ve all met Det. Jones, of the ECPD’s MCU. If you're wondering where we're at, this room is part of the BSI Empire City Field office, satellite facility. It's an offsite location we set up a few years back, for use in an emergency. With that out of the way, I think it's best that we take minute, and allow you all to take a moment to introduce yourselves. "

I'll wait for everyone's responses, before continuing.

It Begins

It’s a cool fall morning in Empire City. The sun shines brightly in clear blue sky.

The temp is in the mid 50’s, fluffy, cotton like clouds can be seen on the horizon, and a gentle breeze blows in from the North East. Everyone is going about your daily routines, as nothing seems out of the ordinary. If anyone has a radio or TV, programming will be interrupted with a breaking news report (fot the more tech savvy members of our little band, you’ll get an RSS feed, a Twitter message, etc.). Authorities are reporting an explosion near the city’s finical district. Initial reports are sketchy, but it appears that there’s been some sort of explosion at the Citizen’s Bank and Trust building, located in the city’s finical district.

Any TV within view is switched to WECN, Empire City’s 24 hour news network. Within 15 minutes of the first reports, WECN reports that their star reporter, Amber Green, is on the scene. They then switch to a live video feed. Thick black smoke can be seen billowing from the building. Emergency workers are escorting the injured to safety. Several dazed and confused office works, their clothing covered in soot, can be seen stumbling from the building.

Amber Green then breaks in.

“This is Amber Green, reporting live from the scene of what appears to be some sort of explosion, at the Citizen’s bank and Trust building. At this time, authorities aren’t willing to speculate on what could have caused the explosion. What is known is that there are multiple casualties, and that ECFD units are still trying to get control of the fire.”

“Wait a moment… it appears that something’s happening….”

BOOOOOM!!!

“Oh my God… there’s been a second explosion. It looks as though there was some sort of secondary explosion. Several fire fighters and police officers are running towards the scene….”

And then static…

WECN’s anchor man “Amber? Amber, can you hear me? It appears as though we’ve lost Amber …it’s possible that the last explosion killed the feed. We’re going to take a commercial break while we try to reestablish that link.”
